TEST DRIVE A HEAT PUMP!
You may well be tempted by the carbon benefits of a heat pump – particularly as there is currently a £7,500 contribution to their installation cost via the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. Yet switching away from your familiar heating can feel like a step into the unknown. Well, here’s the chance to ‘test drive’ a heat pump thanks to Pump:Chic, a project developed by Mike Fell of University College London. It allows you to ‘see’ the heat pump at your home, hear what the sound levels will be, and generally has a lot of useful follow-up information that will give you more confidence. Go to pump:chic to give it a try and let us know what you think!

HEREFORDSHIRE COUNCIL NET ZERO RETROFIT GUIDE
If you’re a building professional, or a householder taking a serious look at retrofit, have a look at the Net Zero Retrofit Guide produced by Herefordshire Council earlier this year. Download the document here.

THERMAL COMFORT RESEARCH PARTICIPANTS WANTED
Experimental psychologist Alison is researching people’s sense of comfort to learn how we can stay comfortably warm at home without wasting energy (or money). Most research into ‘thermal comfort’ is carried out in laboratory settings or workplaces. Very little is known about what happens in ordinary life in our homes. This research project aims to find out. At this stage she’s particularly looking for households whose primary heating is either heat pump or Infrared but people with gas or oil central heating are also welcome.

KEEP HEREFORDSHIRE WARM
Just a reminder that the Keep Herefordshire Warm service, funded by Herefordshire Council and delivered by YES Energy Solutions, has a free advice service to support anyone – but especially people you may know who are struggling or anxious – with keeping healthily warm and managing bills. They’re really busy, but they will always follow up 0800 677 1432.

FREE RETROFIT ADVICE – ASK AN EXPERT!

They’re offering FREE advice to householders wanting to retrofit their homes and they’re sharing the answers through the FAQ and Resources sections of their website so we can all benefit!
