The next HGN Gathering will be in conjunction with Plymouth based Art and Energy supporting their Moths to a Flame Project (Click Here for more details). The meeting will be held via Zoom.
Moths to a Flame is a mass participation art installation engaging thousands of people in creative activity and conversation inspired by our energy systems, relationship with nature, and the climate emergency. Art and Energy are encouraging people to make 20,000 moths to be displayed at Glasgow’s glorious botanic gardens during COP26 and also to record over 10,000 messages and we would like members of HGN to help them achieve those goals.
Using the moth as a metaphor for our relationship with energy, the project invites you to;
Think about energy and its possibilities
Explore the natural world and observe real moths near you
Create simple hand-crafted and digital moths to join the exhibition
Record your climate hopes for the future and
Send a message to World Leaders at COP26.
All of the moths and messages will become impactful physical and digital artworks that carry hope in flight from Plymouth to Glasgow for COP26.
The Gathering will consist of two Zoom sessions: 5.30pm – 7pm on Tuesday 31st August and the 8am – 9am on Wednesday 1st September. The sessions will include learning about moth traps and identifying the moths trapped overnight prior to their release, and making moths to be displayed at the botanic gardens, Glasgow, using a plastic milk bottle and felt tip pens. This is an ideal activity for young ones to join in with and display their creativity.
