Welcome to the first HGN newsletter of 2026.

As a bumper start to the year, you will receive TWO newsletters this week! Today’s newsletter kick starts the year, then at the end of the week we resume the normal schedule of Friday 12 noon for the weekly newsletter.

With icy temperatures and a dusting of snow on the ground, the first item in this week’s newsletter is very timely with details of several Warmer Homes initiatives including a Building Sense ‘Ask The Experts’ webinar.

In spite of the cold temperatures there are already Snowdrops and Primroses in flower in the garden and Hazel catkins hanging from the bare branches in the bottom hedge: welcome signs that spring is on its way, but also worrying signs that climate change is causing shifts in the natural world. New Year is always a time for resolutions to change and the HGN newsletter is a great weekly source of information on what and how to do this including talks and hands-on events to attend, local groups to get involved with, and making this the year you go flight-free.
