Global climate action needs a climate of truth

Mike Berners-Lee spoke in Talgarth (organised by Black Mountains College) on Wednesday evening, prior to his appearance at the Hay Festival tomorrow, Saturday 24th May (tickets still available). We’re just not taking the steps needed to combat climate change, he says, yet it’s clear from research, that there’s much more appetite for action on climate than some politicians, corporations and media would have us believe. He says that a climate of respect is needed – for one another and for climate science. And that respect would underpin a requirement by all of us, for people in positions of power to tell the truth rather than fudge it to suit their own agendas. More about Mike’s book, A Climate of Truthhere (and at our local bookstores!)

PS There’s a collection after his talk tomorrow for the community of Timbuktu, Hay’s twin town, which has been very hard hit not only by extremist violence but by unheard-of flooding that devastated young crops.
