Carbon Literacy for the Community course

Sustainable Chesham is offering anyone interested in making a difference in their community a subsidised place on a day’s training course, where they can become certified as “Carbon Literate”.
During this 8 hour course participants learn how individuals and community groups really can make a difference, as well as gaining an understanding of climate science and how to talk about it with others. Myths are dispelled and the biggest impact solutions discussed.  Attendees say that the course increases their confidence in talking to others around the topic and their understanding of the facts and urgency.  Others say they knew the science but came away feeling re-inspired and motivated to take action, having been around like minded people.   Younger participants, also benefit from having the opportunity to gain a certificate stating they are Carbon Literate, which is increasingly recognised in the workplace and on a CV.
Feedback from June 2025 “The Carbon Literacy course I completed with Sustainable Chesham was informative and motivating. It contained all the most recent climate science and made clear how to effectively assess activities that reduce or increase carbon emissions. I feel I can now make better low carbon choices and have more confidence to pass this knowledge on to others. I found the pledge-making aspect of the course to be very motivating and enjoyed thinking of creative ways to reduce carbon emissions in my community.”
There are places available on the course at the end of November – 25th and 27th.
