The Midlands Net Zero Hub is running a couple of Community Energy Fund webinars to promote the scheme and help communities learn how to develop energy projects on behalf of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.
Through the Community Energy Fund, community groups can receive grants of up to £140,000 to support the initial but critical feasibility phases of a project. The funding is aimed at kickstarting community-owned clean energy projects by looking into the feasibility of small-scale wind farms, rooftop solar partnerships, battery storage, heat networks, and more. The funding will be used to investigate the technical and financial viability of a project and establishing detailed investigations, planning applications to produce a business case for capital investment.
