Hedgerow News from CPRE


Ever wanted to try your hand at hedgelaying?

A traditional countryside skill which benefits wildlife, reduced flooding, increases biodiversity and protects soil. Now’s your chance…

Join CPRE, a GOLD member of HGN, in Eardisland, North Herefordshire for a 2-day, hands-on hedgelaying course. Perfect for beginners, and those with some experience; they will guide you step-by-step.

What you’ll get:
– Expert instruction from a seasoned hedgelayer
– All tools provided, just bring yourself
– A friendly, outdoor learning environment
– Make a real difference for local wildlife

There are 2 courses available in November:
Monday 3rd – Tuesday 4th November (12 spaces)
Wednesday 5th – Thursday 6th November (12 spaces)
Cost: £95 per person

This course is part of CPRE Herefordshire’s Hedgerow Heroes Project, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Learn more about the project here. In addition to these courses, they are planning to hold a coppicing course and further hedgelaying courses in the New Year – details to follow.


Hedgerow Heroes
CPRE, one of HGN’s GOLD members sends a huge thank you to everyone who’s already signed up for one of their upcoming hedge planting days; they are so grateful for your continued support!
 If you’ve already booked, no need to do anything, they will be in touch closer to your date with full details.
For those who haven’t yet picked a date, they still need more hands for all planting dates below!
They have got a packed season ahead to reach their target of 6km, and would love to have you with them.

 Sessions run from 10am to 2pm and are led by their friendly hedge planting leaders.
 No experience needed – just warm clothes, a bit of energy, and a willingness to get stuck in.  Children welcome but need to be accompanied by an adult.
☕ And yes, there’ll be plenty of tea and biscuits!
Whether you’re new or returning, they would love to have you along this season. Together, 6km of hedgerow is being restored across Herefordshire, building a healthier, greener future for wildlife and people alike.
