Recycling in Ewyas Harold The Ewyas Harold & District For People & Planet group are holding their next recycling morning on Saturday 25th July – 10.00 am until noon in the Doctor’s surgery car park at Ewyas Harold. As in recent times, the items they can take are: tin foil; printer cartridges; biros & felt tip pens; compost bags or similar; black plastic (not PET); & candle wax. All these are items which cannot be recycled in the green bins or which can raise money for charity. The Nature Towns and Cities Network is a programme by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, National Trust and Natural England which aims to improve access to nature by helping local authorities, communities and partners bring green space into every neighbourhood. It is open and free to join, offering events, training and resources for community groups, charities and local government. The resource section offers plenty of interesting articles.
Wildlife Weekends at St Faith’s Churchyard Wildlife Weekends – May to October 2026 Families and nature lovers of all ages can join in interactive, guided sessions in St Faith’s Churchyard – getting creative and deepening their connection with nature. These are free, family-friendly events and the findings will contribute directly to the Churchyard Management Plan. On Saturday 11th July the focus is on Invertebrates. More details here.
Community groups and local organisations could access grants of between £10,000 and £75,000 through the Veolia Environmental Trust for projects that improve community facilities and outdoor spaces, or enhance biodiversity and natural habitats.
Funding can support improvements to community centres, parks, play areas, sports grounds, community gardens, woodlands and other publicly accessible spaces. Eligible organisations must be based near a qualifying Veolia site in England and secure a 10% third-party contribution towards the project.

Grants to support the establishment of trees, orchards and hedgerows on streets, in parks, and in community and educational spaces are now available – with funding opportunities for communities across the United Kingdom.
