Local Meadow Walk Greening Kings Caple, the environment working-group of Kings Caple Parish Council, have organised a Meadow Walk with Rory Johnson from Herefordshire Meadows on Thursday 9th July at 7.00pm at Brockhampton Village Hall. A community dig, wildlife workshops, scientific surveys and more – the Dorstone Settlement Timeline Project is bringing 6,000 years of local history to life in 2026, with a programme of free events open to everyone supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Get Involved with Citizen Science Projects

Have you spotted a stag beetle yet this summer? Adult stag beetles are most often seen on warm evenings from late May throughout June and July. They’re the UK’s largest land beetle, but their flight is famously clumsy, with males hanging almost vertically in the air as they search for mates. Thanks to everyone taking part, over 10,000 stag beetles have already been recorded this year through PTES’s Great Stag Hunt. If you see an adult stag beetle, a larva, or even a dead beetle, please record it too. Every record helps build a clearer picture of where these remarkable insects are

Nature and Biodiversity Community Grant A new funding opportunity is available for local groups looking to make a positive impact on Herefordshire’s natural environment. The Nature and Biodiversity Community Grant Scheme supports projects that protect and enhance local wildlife, habitats and green spaces. Grants are available from £500 up to £10,000, with applications of up to £35,000 considered where significant benefits can be demonstrated. Funding can support a wide range of projects, from planting schemes and habitat creation to community nature spaces and environmental improvements that bring people together. The programme is open to community groups, charities, schools and parish councils. The deadline for applications
