New Charter gives River Wye Right to be Free of Pollution

The River Wye has become the first river in the UK to be granted cross-border rights from source to sea – a landmark moment in the fight to protect the country’s rivers. This historic declaration recognises that rivers are not drains for pollution, but living ecosystems deserving of protection, respect, and a legal voice. Covering the Wye across both England and Wales, it marks a major step forward in securing stronger protections for one of the UK’s most iconic and threatened rivers. You can read more about the charter on the Herefordshire Council website
