Sadly, HGN as an organisation didn’t make it to the mass lobby of Parliament this week, organised by the Climate Coalition to ask MPs to show leadership on climate, nature, communities and health. Perhaps you did – in which case thank you for representing Herefordshire and for speaking up! Apparently, most of us keep quiet, with a survey by Climate Barometer revealing that only one in 10 British people say they regularly express their climate views. Planning and Infrastructure Bill concerns UK nature organisations are warning of the threats to habitat of the Planning and Infrastructure Bill. Petition against airport expansions Flight Free UK have just launched a petition, in response to the recent approval of Luton, Gatwick and Heathrow airport expansions. They are asking Parliament to listen to the advice of the Climate Change Committee and not to expand airports. Climate Emergency UK is the organisation behind the Council Climate Action Scorecards, an assessment of climate action taken by local governments across the UK. The Great Collaboration runs weekly lunchtime online sessions. These are friendly, cooperative forums that provide tips and suggestions to help individuals and groups understand and contribute to local actions aiming to reach Net Zero. There is plenty of lively discussion too! Nominally lasting for 60 minutes, over-runs are quite common. The next session will be on Wednesday 13th November, with a Climate Community local government advisor.
