Summer? What Summer?

The weather this year has been notable for its lack of sunshine. A long, wet winter has been followed by an indifferent summer to date, with low temperatures and high winds impacting wildlife, particularly summer insects such as bees and butterflies which have been noticeable by their absence. The Big Butterfly Count, a citizen science project run by the charity Butterfly Conservation, is asking everyone to get out and count butterflies – see the final post in this newsletter. Absence of sightings is as important to record as abundant sightings and all they ask is fifteen minutes of your time to give a country-wide snapshot of how butterflies are faring.

But does the lack of sunshine also impact solar panels and the amount of electricity they generate?  Solar panels are a substantial investment so you may question if it is worth getting solar panels if there is no sunshine. Read on to find out.
