Among the many programmes and events marking 200 years of the railways was an interesting discussion on Radio 4 which suggested that railways, as well as being part of the solution to climate change, were also originally part of the cause. Click here to listen to the programme.
Campaign for Better Transport have produced a report entitled Making the connection: Rail and the sustainable growth opportunity (supported by West Coast Partnership), which focuses on the economic and societal importance of the rail network and makes the case for continued investment in all parts of the network.
