News from Low Traffic Future

The group ‘Low Traffic Future‘ feel that early optimism that this Government would “move fast and fix things” on sustainable transport has unfortunately faded somewhat. They still await a new Integrated National Transport Strategy (as promised by previous Transport Secretary Louise Hague before her mysterious departure from her role). However it has also become clear that the Labour leadership are determined to build roads and the wrong kind of homes in the wrong places, on the premise of generating economic growth.

Low Traffic Future have also seen changes in political control of several local authorities that, on balance, look set to make sustainable transport campaigning in England harder, rather than easier. Therefore in this new environment they wanted to ask people how they could best support your crucial local campaigning activity?

To let them know what you think would be most useful to you, please complete this online survey. It should only take a minute or two to complete.

Please send them your responses by the end of Sunday 15th June 2025.

They would then like to invite people to an online discussion on a weekday evening in the 1st week of July. That will be an opportunity for them to share the feedback they’ve received and invite any further comments you may have once you have heard what other local campaigners and groups have said. This will help them draw up our plans and priorities. If you are interested in joining, please fill in this Doodle poll asap.
