Great Collaboration News

The banter sessions organised by the Great Collaboration team continue weekly on a Wednesday lunchtime covering a range of topics. Click here for a list of past and future sessions.

The next session will be and update on the Postcode Revolution on Wednesday 11th June at 12 noon

A recording of the session will be posted on the GC website after the event.

Last week’s session was a rather refreshing change of approach: instead of a formal presentation, it was more of a fireside chat entitled “Being ready for the unexpected – at the community level” – with Richard Hood

Richard posed some seductive/worrying thoughts about:
  • What will you do when all your comms collapse?  (no social media, no WhatsApp groups, no phones)
  • What will you do when all your power fails?  (similar scenario – no electricity for mobile phones, computers)
  • And a bunch of other What-Ifs
A firm believer in the importance of members of the community knowing who is where, with what skills/requirements/vulnerabilities/ capabilities/resources, Richard gave a renewed sense of just how much everyone can do locally in preparation for the worst that may be coming with climate change – and how the simplest solutions prepared in advance can do much to mitigate emergencies.
