HGN Event: Ready, steady … Starting and running a local environment group

Have you ever wondered how your own village or local community would start a group, or what you would then do? Join our event to find out.

Local environment, or ‘green’ groups are doing brilliant and inspiring work in Herefordshire. Some as the initiative of a parish council, some started by like-minded neighbours.
They put on events and arrange local initiatives – for instance for home energy, seed and plant swaps, repair cafés, EV chargers, offer-a-lift schemes, litter picking, solar roofs, no-mow May on local verges.
If you’ve ever wondered how your own village or local community would start a group, or what you would then do, we have just what you’re looking for.

1. Online, introductory event on Tuesday 13 May, 12.45 to 13.45. This will be a taster session to hear from two of our groups (Archenfield and Almeley) and to gauge interest for the second event. If you’re interested but can’t make the date, please sign up anyway so we can send you the link to the recording.

2. An in-person workshop on Thursday 19 June, in Hereford, provisionally daytime unless participants need it to be evening! Hear from the experts (they’ve done it!) about setting up, finding finance, ideas for events and activities, engaging more people, and more. Please e-mail admin@hgnetwork.org to express interest and your preferred time.
