Snowdrops flowering in gardens and verges; the leaves of wild daffodils pushing through the mud; Blue Tits checking out the nest box built into my cottage wall; day length gradually stretching out : all signs that the year has turned and that spring is on its way. There is a definite spring feel to this week’s newsletter with many of our members’ events focusing on planting and gardening.
Seed Swaps are a great way to share seeds that you have too many of and receive seeds of vegetables and flowers that you may not have tried growing before. CLaN CIC and Applewood Permaculture are demonstrating Winter Tree Pruning, to increase the productivity of fruit trees, Ross branch of HWT have a talk on Bees and bio-diversity and CPRE are looking for volunteers to help with tree planting. There is also link to grant funding for urban wildlife gardening.
