Saturday 6th November: Global Day of Action in preparation for COP26

The purpose of the Global Day of Action is to unite all climate activists and  groups around a common goal: to demand that governments and corporations limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C and deliver real and just solutions to the climate crisis.

The intention is to have events starting at noon not only in big cities around the world, but also in places like Hereford. This could be a march or parade, for example, with pauses when local people recount their climate-change related experiences. These might be their own experiences of floods in Herefordshire or, if they have family in another country experiencing devastating floods or fires, they could describe the experiences of their family.

Working with other local groups to hold a demonstration.

The COP26 Coalition is calling on organisations and networks to help make the demonstrations happen. There is an active Climate Action Network West Midlands, from which we can get advice. The email address is  westmidlands@cop26coalition.org Arranging speakers, designing the route…. there are lots of different ways to get involved. Herefordshire Friends of the Earth are keen to be involved in this. Are any other Herefordshire  groups already working on this?

Of course the pandemic may impact some people’s ability or wish to take part. We shall have to do what feels most comfortable and follow all COVID measures in place on the day.

If you as an individual or group are willing to be involved or would like more information, please email melodie4foe@gmail.com
