Switching your heating to a heat pump is one of the most straightforward and cost-effective ways to cut your home’s carbon emissions. Technically, a heat pump can provide heat even to an uninsulated building – but the outcome will be better all round if the building (and its occupants!) are well prepared.

Home energy professional Dave Green had an air source heat pump installed in his 1930’s semi in Shrewsbury, Shropshire in May 2021 as part of a staged home retrofit project. He’s been monitoring his home’s energy performance since its installation and shared his findings with us earlier this month.
