“Pathways to a Zero Carbon Oxfordshire” Launch

In 2019, the UK Parliament passed legislation committing to a target of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. In Oxfordshire, all local authorities have acknowledged and responded to the climate emergency, and are developing plans to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 or sooner.

Climate policy ambition has been scaled up, but so have plans for housing growth and transport connectivity in Oxfordshire.

This report addresses the question of how Oxfordshire can achieve net-zero emissions in the context of rapid growth. While substantial progress has been made to decouple economic growth from carbon emissions, driven by cleaner electricity supply and increased energy efficiency, there remains a significant way to go to decarbonise transport, reduce reliance on fossil fuels for heating, and protect and enhance carbon stored in the natural environment.

Join us on June 29th to hear from a range of speakers that will explore the national and Oxfordshire context for clean growth and the opportunities and barriers to a Zero Carbon transition. Our analysis shows that there are different routes to net-zero, and we outline three distinct pathways to eradicating emissions from the economy by 2050.

This online webinar will also include a Q&A panel.
