In Honour of Flies

For those who are interested in invertebrates there are two events this weekend:

This evening, Friday 27th May at 7pm there is a talk organised by Herefordshire Wildlife Trust entitled:

In Honour of Flies with Dr Erica McAlister

Venue: The Market Theatre, Market St, Ledbury HR8 2AQ Cost: £12

Flies are some of the most complex, fascinating and ecologically important of all insects (and, in the speaker’s mind, animals). They have adapted to all environments, from jumping back into seas to exploring caves deep beneath our feet, and along the way are carrying out essential ecosystem services to keep our planet clean, tidy and full of food! Even those species that appear to be destructive are actually inspiring scientists to develop novel technology, and there is much to learn about these small, but creative species!

Dr Erica McAlister is the Senior Curator for Diptera and Siphonaptera at the National History Museum. Event Funded by Severn Trent.
