HGN Meetings

HGN’s Annual General Meeting took place online on Wednesday 22nd and was very well attended. Members heard an update on the network’s activities and achievements over the past eighteen months. The AGM was followed by a presentation from Clare Cherry on HGN’s  Great Collaboration project which engages with local individuals and the parish councils who represent them. The meeting then heard a talk by Cllr Ellie Chowns about the challenges and opportunities of local climate action, and how local political engagement can support positive change. She spoke about initiatives including the citizens’ climate assembly, the establishment of the climate reserve to fund new initiatives, and the formation of the Herefordshire Climate and Nature Partnership Board and the countywide climate and nature action plan. There was a lively Q&A session at the end.

Ellie mentioned the new electric buses that the city council has commissioned – more details on these can be found in this newsletter.

For those who were not able to attend, a recording of meeting will be available shortly.

The next HGN Meeting will be on Monday 5th December between 11am and 2pm upstairs at De Koffie Pot. This will be a Members’ Meeting – a chance share refreshments and to catch up in person with what you or your group has been up to, and to hear news from others. No need to book – just come along at a time to suit you. We look forward to seeing you.

Our first meeting of the new year will be an online talk and discussion with Richard Priestley talking about his new book ‘System Change Now’. The meeting will be on Wednesday 18th January by Zoom. Details of how to book will follow in a future newsletter.
