Saving the River Wye Meetings

The state of the River Wye continues to make headlines – for all the wrong reasons. There are three meetings coming up which look at ways of tackling the problems facing the river:

There will be an in-person meeting on March 10th at 2pm, in Hereford about using a holistic approach to tackle the problems affecting the River Wye.

And on March 14th there is an online meeting organised by the City Branch of Herefordshire Wildlife Trust on ‘Monitoring the River Wye’. A chance to hear Fiona Groves of the Wye & Usk Foundation talk about her work monitoring water quality, her electrofish, invertebrate & diatom surveys. Fiona is also overseeing the 3 year algal boom investigative study of the Wye and we will get the opportunity to hear about this study and some of their initial work.

On Thursday 16th March there will be a Wye Valley AONB Partnership Seminar on enhancing water catchment through innovative land management, influencing policies and practices to conserve and enhance water resources in our outstanding landscape.
