Left Bank Talks and Discussion Evenings

Good evening everyone,
Real summer! So much sun, so hot ….

Wednesday 16 June : Perry Walker, the Colston statue.
Wednesday 23 June : Presented – in brief – several topics for an open discussion evening.
Link to past DEs on Youtube.

Perry Walker : The Colston statue :-
Edward Colston was both a slave trader and a great benefactor to the city of his birth, Bristol. A year ago, during a Black Lives Matter
protest, his statue was pulled from its plinth in the city centre and thrown into the harbour. It was pulled out and is now on temporary
display in Bristol’s M Shed museum.

What should happen to it in the long run? What about other statues, such as that of Cecil Rhodes in Oxford? What about streets, schools
etc. named after Colston? Come and explore.
