On Wednesday, 29th September, five of us had a most pleasant and interesting evening upstairs in De Koffie Pot discussing Road Safety. Statistics reveal marked variation in fatalities between countries, the UK ranks well, Nordic countries particularly Sweden, somewhat better. We talked about a wide range of technical and cultural factors which both account for the differences and point the way forward, in particular the Swedish approach of the state taking responsibility and making concerted effort to reduce road casualties.
