Upcoming events at the Queenswood Sustainable Future Centre Open Saturdays

We are quickly developing our programme of events on Saturdays between 10.30am and 3.30pm. So why not combine a walk in the autumn woods with a visit to the new Sustainable Future Centre?

4th September – Make Your Own Bee Hotel

All summer you have probably seen bees buzzing around your garden or local park but some of our bees struggle to find places to nest and you can help. This Saturday we are going to be building our own Bee Hotels. Using recycled materials these will provide a nesting space for solitary bees.

So why not come and join in? We will provide everything you need, and you can take home your own Bee Hotel.

11th & 25th September – Clothes and Produce Swaps

Do you want to clear your wardrobe or get kitted out for Autumn? Or do you have an abundance of home grown produce to share or exchange? New clothes have a hugely negative environmental impact and there is a growing trend to upcycle, repair and re-use them.

Join us for our Clothes and Produce Swap days where you can also find out which fabrics are the most sustainable and the facts behind your clothes labels.

18th September – Home Energy Day

Want to know more about how to keep your house warm and the latest technology to cut carbon and save money? We are delighted to be hosting local renewable energy suppliers Caplor Energy and Tipsgrove Eco who will be on site to showcase their products and answer questions.

Energy saving tips and information about financial help available will be provided by Keep Herefordshire Warm

2nd October – Hidden Herefordshire

Discover wildlife with the Hidden Herefordshire project. The Nomadic Museum of Natural History will also be here!

Other upcoming events include Meet the Author sessions with local authors Temi Odurinde (Natural Beekeeping) and Looby MacNamara (Permaculture and Cultural Emergence) whose books are available in the Queenswood shop.

We are adding new events all the time so check out our latest listings on the Queenswood website event pages here
