Volunteer Tree Planters Wanted

New HGN members Bruce and Sarah Herriot have a small holding in Cradley, Herefordshire. They have restored and run a small holding of 25 acres for the last 24 years along organic, traditional and wildlife-friendly lines. The farm has old traditional orchards of apples, pears and perry and cider fruit along with unimproved pastures and wildflower meadows. They are committed to keeping the small holding as it has always been, with numerous small fields that appear on the 1700’s local map. They have replanted the orchards and laid hedges. They have a small number of sheep to graze the pasture.

They are currently planting a small woodland of native trees under a Forestry Commission scheme, along a stream and connecting with nearby woodland. They are planting 1500 native trees in a new wood , Jenny’s Wood, this December.
Would any volunteers be interested in joining them in planting ? They can supply a day’s planting with hot food and drink for groups of any
number. If you could help with this project contact bruce.herriot@btinternet.com or phone 07813663480
