HGN Gathering – Moths to a Flame

The next HGN Gathering will be in conjunction with Plymouth based Art and Energy supporting their Moths to a Flame Project (Click Here for more details). The meeting will be held via Zoom.

Moths to a Flame is a mass participation art installation engaging thousands of people in creative activity and conversation inspired by our energy systems, relationship with nature, and the climate emergency. Art and Energy are encouraging people to make 20,000 moths to be displayed at Glasgow’s glorious botanic gardens during COP26 and also to record over 10,000 messages and we would like members of HGN to help them achieve those goals.

The gathering  will be a family-friendly, relaxed and welcoming event as we explore the world of moths, find out more about energy, and are inspired to creative responses.

On Tuesday 31st August, early evening from 5.30pm -7.00pm we will hear about the project, learn how to make moths from plastic milk bottles and visit two Herefordshire moth-ers as they set up their traps. We return on Wednesday morning 1st September 8-9am for the grand reveal as we see what moths have visited the traps overnight.

An ideal activity for young and old, just before the school term restarts. Participants will need – a clean dry plastic milk bottle, a pair of scissors, a permanent marker pen (any colour(s)), a UV pen if you have one.
