Weather Warnings

The extremes of weather – floods, heatwaves, drought – being reported now on a daily basis from around the world bring into sharp focus the impact that the human race is having on our planet. Even our own unseasonably cool and wet summer weather, albeit not so extreme, is impacting farmers who cannot harvest their crops which will have a knock on effect on food prices and availability. Rishi Sunak has this week announced over 100 further oil and gas drilling licences: Why does the image of an ostrich come to mind? Even some of his own MPs have criticised this move as not consistent with Britain’s pledge to reach net-zero.

It is heartening therefore to read of more positive action around the county. Hereford Council’s new city wide electric bus service should reduce emissions and congestion, and actions continue to highlight the plight of our rivers. Read on for more details.
