Melissa is a qualified environmental and management systems specialist with over 20 years experience in industry including implementing an ISO14001 environmental management system for the first flour mill in the UK to achieve certification. Achieving low energy and sustainable buildings through proven design that delivers results. Speaker: Paul Neep, from Architype, an architectural practice based in Herefordshire delivering commercial, public & residential projects. Paul has been involved in a wide variety of projects including the UK’s first two Passivhaus Primary Schools and numerous small and large scale housing projects. In 2017  he was awarded RIBA West Midlands Project Architect of the Year for the major extension and refurbishment works at St Michael’s Hospice in Hereford. Architype use Passivhaus, the world’s most rigorous energy and comfort standard because it is based on sound building physics, and unlike other standards, has proven its accuracy and performance over a 30 year monitoring period in a range of building types. Their approach demonstrates that Passivhaus design can create beautiful buildings that do not need to cost more than conventional construction. Passivhaus bridges the all too common performance gap between prediction and reality, reducing energy consumption by design, rather than relying on renewables to offset carbon.
