The Tree Council’s Branching Out Fund is now open for applications, offering grants from £250 to £2,500 for tree, hedgerow, and orchard planting. Eligible groups include schools, charities, and community organisations. Applications are due by Sunday 1st December 2024, and successful applicants will be notified within 5-6 weeks. Grants are paid after planting, and all projects must have planted and submitted a claim form before midnight on Sunday 16th March 2025. This month, Herefordshire Council published a Climate Change Adaptation Plan for the county, to help ensure that its natural environment, people, infrastructure, buildings and businesses are prepared for the impacts of climate change. These impacts include greater incidence and severity of flooding, a higher likelihood of water scarcity and more intense and prolonged heatwaves. The plan was developed by SWM, but co-created by stakeholders who know the county the best. SWM provided the framework and the means of pulling everything together that stakeholders shared with them, to ensure the Plan had buy-in, built on existing work and aligned with other sustainability priorities,

The Community Green Spaces Fund will provide up to £7m of funding to support communities to create, restore and enhance their green spaces. Grants of up to £75,000 will be provided to help communities plant fruits, vegetables, and trees, creating orchards and natural play areas for all to access and enjoy. The Community Infrastructure Grant is a capital grant scheme that has been funded by the Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF). Capital grants are available for organisations for up to 80% of the total eligible project costs. What can the grant be used for?
