During the last week HGN has linked up to share TWO events with member organisations! Thanks to everyone who came along. Last Friday evening HGN members joined Pomona Solar Co-op and guests to celebrate 10 years of community energy in Herefordshire – Pomona will be sharing more news about that shortly. Then on Wednesday this week, the HGN steering group and other members were hosted on a visit to Growing Local’s new 19-acre site at Southside Farm, Hereford. Joining HGN Steering Group HGN has about a thousand individual members, and over 160 member organisations, so we’re pretty sure there’s a lot of experience, enthusiasm and creativity amongst those of you reading this! We’d love to hear from anyone who would like to be considered as a member of the (volunteer) Steering Group. It can be quite light touch involvement, but offers scope to become more engaged if you wish. Growing Local – Summer Celebration Day 30th July Join HGN Steering Group and other HGN members for a visit to The Southside Farm on Wednesday 30th July at 6.30pm to learn about Growing Local’s exciting new project. It would be lovely to see you in person – not just as a head, on Zoom! With members of the Growing Local team you will enjoy a walking tour of the farm, a chance to meet the growers, seeing the veg box growing areas and polytunnels, visiting the children’s garden, outdoor kitchen, and exploring the goodies in the farm shop. The directors of HGN GOLD member Pomona Solar Co-op are inviting HGN members to help celebrate 10 years of generating clean solar electricity for the county. The event is being held at Almeley Village Hall during the late afternoon and early evening of Friday 25th July. It will include a range of brief talks on community energy projects across the region and an address from local MP Ellie Chowns, along with refreshments and networking time. The regular bookkeeping is handled by our admin person Rachel, so the treasurer role comprises financial reporting for bimonthly meetings, managing payments, plus advising and co-operating with the HGN steering group. Sign up now for 19 June Ready, steady WORKSHOP – Starting and running a local environment group Following the introductory, online session on starting and running a local environment group, the in-person follow up event will be in Hereford (at the Museum of Cider), running from 10am until 2-2.30pm, including refreshments and a sandwich lunch.
