Last week, Localgiving opened their latest Community Matters Fund with National Grid, this time focussed on delivering grants to charitable organisations supporting communities and hubs working hard to improve their resilience in the energy transition. The Fund can be used to support energy-efficient initiatives to lower carbon footprints, save energy costs and improve energy-efficiency ratings. The Twemlows Solar Farm second share offer is now open! Shropshire and Telford Community Energy are looking to raise circa £500,000 to secure Twemlows, enhance their Community Benefit Fund and increase their membership. The minimum investment is £250, the maximum is £100,000 (including investments made in 2023). Before investing you should read the 2025 Twemlows Share Offer Document available here. New Climate Crisis Film A new film about the climate crisis, produced by Global Documentary called System Update – Rebooting Our Future featuring leading academics, experts, and change‑makers from across the UK, has just been released. The film calls for a reboot of outdated systems that have have failed to appropriately respond to climate change. It’s free to watch and completely non-profit. Herefordshire residents can now apply for the Warm Homes Local Grant scheme. The aim of the scheme is to improve as many ‘fuel poor’ homes as possible, helping to reduce energy bills for the occupants, and cut carbon emissions. The scheme aims to support low-income Herefordshire households living in the least energy efficient homes and will follow a whole house approach. Apply by 03 April for Veolia’s Environmental Trust Funding. Veolia are awarding grants towards projects that make improvements to community facilities and the natural environment. Grants are available for both Community Projects, to create or improve publicly accessible spaces for the benefit of the community, and Habitat and Biodiversity Projects, which fund improvements to or the creation of natural habitats. Apply by 08 April for The William Sutton Prize for Sustainability.
