Walk Leader Opportunity

The Healthy Lifestyle Service at Talk Community are offering free Walk Leader training for anyone who is interested in leading a short, accessible walk in their local community. The training is delivered under the Ramblers Wellbeing Walks framework. The walks provide an important community resource to anyone looking to get, or stay active and connect with others in their local area. There are already several walks taking place around Herefordshire; come along to learn more about the role of a Walk Leader, and to see for yourself how beneficial these walks are! Energy Savers Week which finishes on Sunday is an opportunity to support individuals to reduce energy use and save money on energy bills. The Energy Saving Trust have teamed up with Citizens Advice to share everyday energy wins; from turning off the tap when you brush your teeth to tips on defrosting the freezer. HGN Online Event: Thinking of an electric car this year?  This Wednesday January 21st from 1pm – 2pm Electric cars are becoming increasingly popular but if you have not driven one you may want to find out a bit more before you take the plunge. Click here for more details and to book for this free event.   There’s also free hands-on airtightness and insulation training in Shrewsbury in January with Future Ready Homes. This is primarily targeted at builders but would also be suitable for fairly competent and ambitious DIYers. Ross Community Hub Zero Waste Stall

Food from local supermarkets which would otherwise be wasted is collected by a team of volunteers and offered to anyone who comes to the Zero Waste stall (completely free).  People can queue for the stall in a polytunnel from around 9am on Monday 29th December and each day after that. The Zero Waste stall is based at Ross Community Garden where, during hub opening hours, attendees can access information and signposting to support their health and wellbeing.
