Sustainability charity Severn Wye Energy Agency is now offering free energy advice and support to Herefordshire residents who may be at risk of ‘slipping through the net’ of conventional fuel poverty support. Through the Community Energy Advice programme, a local adviser can support with everything from energy-saving and carbon monoxide advice, advising on the Priority Services Register, to speaking with your supplier if you fall behind on your bills. The Great Collaboration runs weekly lunchtime online sessions. These are friendly, cooperative forums that provide tips and suggestions to help individuals and groups understand and contribute to local actions aiming to reach Net Zero. There is plenty of lively discussion too! Nominally lasting for 60 minutes, over-runs are quite common. The next session will be on Wednesday 13th November, with a Climate Community local government advisor. Local residents who are off gas and have a household income up to £36,000 can still apply for a Home Upgrade Grant (HUG), which will fully fund energy saving improvements to their home, but time is running out as the applications are due by October 31st 2024.
