HGN “BUILDING SENSE” takes off!

Our new BUILDING SENSE: creating comfort + cutting carbon initiative on building retrofit got off to a great start at our HGN gathering on Wednesday. We packed in a huge audience and lots of information and views from our contributors.

Some key takeaways:

  • Building retrofit, particularly of homes, is a real priority for health AND cutting carbon
  • It’s really important to start with a whole house plan so work can be done in a sensible and non-damaging sequence
  • Herefordshire Council have building retrofit as a priority and are looking hard at effective ways to mobilise us
  • Herefordshire has excellent builders, but people are struggling to find ones who’ve had retrofit training

The feedback from participants told us that there’s an appetite for more sessions and retrofit support, so we’ll get working on that right away.

Meanwhile, we’ve started work on a new website resource – it’s in its infancy and we’ll be improving it. And on our new website it will be easier to find – but meanwhile, take a look HERE

Once we’ve edited the recording of Wednesday’s session we’ll let you know the link.

STOP PRESS: We have just been sent information about a 3 day ‘Understanding Domestic Retrofit’ eLearning course for installers/builders  – click here for details
