People have always moved to where energy and other resources provided the best opportunities. In the 19th Century cities grew up on coalfields, in the 20th Century cities like Dubai grew because of oil fields. Will the 21st Century be characterised by new cities in the hot dry deserts?
Solar Power is now the cheapest form of energy and is projected to keep getting cheaper. This will have dramatic repercussions for global demographics, just as coal did in the 19th Century. There are a whole range of new technologies and ideas for growing food, providing water and creating new industries all driven by the power of the sun.
