MCS “Renewing Britain” report

MCS are excited to share their ‘Renewing Britain’ report

“We believe that small-scale renewables must play a crucial role in tackling the climate emergency and greening Britain’s homes. Through raising consumer confidence and a supportive government policy framework, small-scale renewables can become the norm, and not the exception.”

The report highlights:

  1. Disparity of areas adopting domestic green energy has created rural ‘forests’ and urban ‘deserts’
  2. It would take over 250 years for small-scale renewables to reach every household at current rates
  3. The 10 local authorities with the lowest rates are all London boroughs
  4. Scotland leads the way, with one in five homes in Orkney opting for renewables
  5. We outline six key recommendations for government to support small-scale renewables on a national level

“This report outlines the journey since 2007 and shows the dramatic change in the landscape for low carbon technologies over the past 14 years. Crucially, it also provides us with insight to shape the future, showcases the many opportunities that are now open to us, and highlights the long-term policy framework needed from government to enable the sector to flourish.”

The report shows the dramatic change in the landscape but crucially, it provides the market with insights to shape the future. You can read the full report here
