Woodland Trust Talk

Talks & Discussions Evening : Wednesday 8 May 2019 The Garden Room, Left Bank.

The Woodland Trust is the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity. Established from humble beginnings in 1972 by our founder Kenneth Watkins OBE, we now have over 500,000 members and supporters and more than 1,000 sites, covering over 26,000 hectares, all over the UK. We protect and campaign on behalf of this country’s woods, plant trees, and restore ancient woodland for the benefit of wildlife and people. Our vision is a UK rich in native woods and trees, for people and wildlife.

The Speaker at this event: Andrew De La Haye

Andrew is passionate about nature and particularly trees. He has spent many happy years working in conservation organisations in the UK and now tends his own land in Herefordshire, just south of Ross-on-Wye. He grows his own fruits and vegetables using natural methods, such as permaculture, biodynamics and organics. He has also planted a few hundred trees on his land and many thousands on other peoples land.

The Talk

The talk explores the history of our woodlands in the UK, going from the ice age to modern times, and shows how there is so little left of the original woodlands and why it is important to life in Britain. Andrew explains the work the Woodland Trust does and will no doubt invite you to take action yourselves, even if it is joining the Woodland Trust to support their efforts.
