Updates from Transition Leominster

Our Repair cafe went smoothly – This format seemed to work well. For the foreseeable future they will be run by a small team. Repairs will be by appointment. 1 person with 1 item. The next RC will hopefully be on the 2nd Sat of Jan.

Plans for Plantastik our vegan cafe are slowly moving forward. We will be using surplus food supplied by the Fairshare network and have a space for Transition information.

Hereford Seed Swap 2021 –  Saturday 6th February

The Seed Swap team would like to assure you that we intend to hold some form of Seed Swap Event next year, on Saturday 6th February 2021.  With luck some of you have been saving seed and plants to bring along, so do not despair, your efforts will not be in vain.

For obvious reasons we cannot make any firm plans at this stage, but the day’s event will have to be an abbreviated version of previous years. All planning is subject to change these days, but we wanted to remind you to save the day.

Venue: At present we are hoping to have the event at The Courtyard and are talking with them to try and make it work.  We are also looking at other options in case it is not available.

With best wishes at this troubling time. The Seed Swap Team

Plans are also in hand for Leominster’s own Seed Swap – usually the week after Hereford’s so another date to save.

An edited letter from Power for People:
Dear Transition Leominster,
Following our success at the Parliamentary Adjournment Debate two weeks ago, Power for People is facilitating Virtual Visits across the UK to boost support for the Local Electricity Bill. You can help this campaign progress by organising a visit with your MP. A Virtual Visit is a visit to an MP’s surgery conducted online, for example via video call, where constituents can speak directly with their MP to raise concerns and discuss local and national issues. It is a very effective way of communicating directly with your MP and, if they are already supportive, encouraging them to engage further. The Local Electricity Bill now has the support of 222 MPs.  Your help will be invaluable in bringing additional MPs on board and encourage those that are supportive to promote the Bill in Parliament.
Would Transition Leominster be willing to be a part of a Virtual Visit with your MP?
I and my colleagues will support and guide you through the process of organising the Virtual Visit or help you join one already being organised by others in your constituency. We will also provide a briefing to ensure that you feel confident and prepared for your visit. If it is something that you would like to be involved in, please let me know.
All the best, Rupert
