Training for local builders to deliver low-carbon retrofit

The new HGN Retrofit Initiative (more about that soon) is sharing news of the following initiative from The Green Register, which is aimed at helping more local builders get training and certification to carry out low carbon retrofit.

Builders in Herefordshire might be interested in this heavily subsidised training and certification scheme which will also enable them to carry out works funded by the Green Homes Grant. The overarching aim is to encourage access to Green Homes Grant voucher scheme works and enable more homeowners to take advantage of the vouchers, make their homes more efficient and install low carbon technology, in turn stimulating the local economy and jobs market.

Futureproof Skills & Certification programme

This programme offers contractors working in England a generously subsidised package of training with certification. For a one-off payment, SME contractor companies can access Futureproof Essentials online retrofit training, PAS2030 certification on a single measure plus Trustmark accreditation –  all at a heavily subsidised cost (with grant money from BEIS).

The offer

  • 100 places for businesses to benefit from Futureproof Essentials retrofit skills training + support to gain PAS2030 certification in one measure + Trustmark registration at £1,750 (no VAT applicable), saving around £2,300 per company.
  • 200 extra training places for up to two members of the same team of the certifying company.
  • 50 discounted Futureproof Essentials training places for contractors who are currently unemployed at £100 per learner (saving £199).

But you need to be quick: the programme ends on 31 May 2021 and all applications to be submitted by 15 April 2021.
