This autumn, Queenswood Country Park & Arboretum is running a series of workshops focused on nature and craft. First up, on 12 October Tim Kaye will be running a spoon carving workshop. Learn the basics of green woodworking and master the axe, knife and crook knife, working in a sheltered spot within the woodland.
On 3 November, the Herefordshire Fungus Survey group will lead you on journey into the fungal kingdom. You will forage around the beautiful surroundings of Queenswood with their help and then, after lunch, discuss the finds and learn more about mushrooms.
Finally, we are joined by Herefordshire Wildlife Trust’s artist-in-residence Richard Bavin who will run a new workshop: The Textures of Trees – Exploring with hands & charcoal! (Wednesday 27 November). This is a hands-on workshop where, working at a scale much bigger than life size, we will use charcoal to find ways to convey the shapes and textures of our forest treasures.
