There is an initiative called REFILL operating in several towns. It signs up cafes, restaurants and businesses to provide free refills of tap water to anyone who comes in with a plastic bottle. see http://www.refill.org.uk/about-refill/.
Members of HGN would be keen to see this happening in Hereford – and Rob Palsgrave has approached H&W Chamber of Commerce to see if they would consider supporting a scheme. So far he has had no response.
We have also talked a fair bit recently about more general local initiatives to curb plastic usage. Would any of you like to jump in and help push this? Either by helping organise an HGN Gathering on the theme of reducing plastics – or by supping the work that Rob is doing to bring REFILL into the county.
