Quiztastic evening had by all

Last Wednesday, at Left Bank Village, five teams of HGN members and others tackled a set of 30 questions about climate change, which we hope to refine into a set of ten to get into pub quizzes. Perry Walker compiled the sometimes dastardly questions and acted as quizmaster extraordinaire.

All the scores were close, ranging from 14/30 to 20/30, but the Ancient Agitators came out on top – kudos to them. There was lots of useful feedback which will help to hone the final questions. For those of you who weren’t there, here are a couple to try (answers below):

Q1. According to Donald Trump, who created the concept of global warming?
a.    China
b.    the Democrats
c.    Mexico
d.    North Korea

Q2. BlackRock is the world’s largest fund manager. Over the last decade, how much has it has gained or lost from investing in fossil fuel companies, in billions of dollars:
a.    Gained $20 billion
b.    Gained $90 billion
c.    Lost $90 bn
d.    Lost $20 billion

Answers Q1 – a. In 2012, Donald Trump, now US President, claimed that “The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make US manufacturing non-competitive.” Q2 – c, equal to £74bn

Thank you Perry for a highly enjoyable and informative evening!
