Our HGN AGM

Thanks to all of you who joined an excellent gathering of HGN for our AGM on Monday. The meeting got through a record amount of business with great good humour.

Last year at this time HGN was on very unstable footing, however the past 12 months have seen the organisation grow into a much stronger position, and we are now happily developing a strategy for the year ahead. The full Chair’s Report for 2017 is available here in our documents library.

The meeting re-elected Gareth Williams (Chair), Kate Gathercole (Secretary), David Gillam (Treasurer), and elected Gordon Coppock as Vice Chair. There were also some changes in our Steering Group which is now Sarah Blenkinsop, Richard Urbanski, Liz Hughes and Temi Odurinde plus the officers named above. Huge thanks to all for either not stepping down or choosing to step up!

We agreed that our key network themes for 2018 will be:

  • Low Carbon – an issue that is always central to our work
  • Get Active! – a package of support for local groups funded by Awards for All
  • Local Food

The local food theme will be featured in our first HGN Gathering of 2018 on Wednesday 17th January. Transition Worcester will be joining us to inspire us with their successful ‘Food Rescue’ project, and Peter Norton of the Brightspace Foundation will update us on his work to develop a Food Poverty Alliance for the county.

Full minutes of the AGM will follow soon, along with a couple of survey documents inviting your opinions on activities such as themes for our Awards for All funded workshops for local groups.

… Watch this space! more to follow soon…
