TODAY! – HGN GatherinG: Sustainable Food

Thursday 21st January 5.30pm – 7pm  (via Zoom)

HGN Gathering Sustainable Food: Places, Spaces and Hubs.

A Sustainable Food County. Using the national ‘Sustainable Food Places’ framework we will learn about local food projects and community larders in the county and see what opportunities exist to co-ordinate activity and to link to Talk Communities

We will be joined by food expert Pete Norton, Kristan Pritchard (Public Health) and Yolande Watson (HC Cabinet support member for Adults and Communities).

Kristan Pritchard is the Health Improvement Practitioner for the Herefordshire Council Public health team. Her focus is on health improvement areas like obesity, most recently working with the local food alliance to plan the implementation of the sustainable food places model locally and also lead the food aspect of the county carbon plan.

Over the past two decades Pete Norton has worked in the field of sustainable development mostly on local food projects including for the Bulmer Foundation, New Leaf, Sustain, F3 Local Food Consultants, the Local Food Fund and the Orchard Project, including writing a Sustainable Food Strategy for Herefordshire in 2010.

Yolande will set the scene and short presentations from Kristen and Pete will discuss food poverty in Herefordshire and the Sustainable Food Places (SFP) approach. Local groups who are active in the county will have the chance to introduce their work and then we will split into breakout rooms to discuss what else is happening and our priorities for Herefordshire.
