Managing and valuing our churchyards Online Workshop: this week

Diocesan Online Workshop Wednesday March 24th 7.30-9pm

Valuing our churchyards

Join us to gain inspiration, practical ideas and understanding as we move forwards on our Hereford Eco Diocese journey. In this workshop we are focusing on one of the five Eco Church topics – managing and valuing our churchyards.

We have an excellent speaker from Caring for God’s Acre – Director Harriet Carty. Harriet is a professional ecologist and has worked in nature conservation for many years. She has worked with Caring for God’s Acre for seven years. She will speak about how to manage churchyards to increase biodiversity and how to record the wildlife in our churchyards, particularly in ways which help us engage with our communities. We will also hear from churches in the Diocese who have found innovative ways of ensuring their churchyards bring real blessing and involvement with their local schools and community.

There will be the opportunity of asking questions and gaining support for help with recording what grows and lives in your churchyards.

Booking for the workshop is free but you need to first register in advance. We encourage churches to ensure that several people attend from each church. And please spread the word to others. With spring on its way, this is a timely opportunity for churches to ensure their churchyards are valued and well managed for the benefits of church members and the wider community.
