WEDNESDAY 28 APRIL 2021 Alan Adams : “Water”
I shall be giving another of my occasional presentations, this time about Water. Much is known about the existential threat of Global Warming but not that this is not the only existential threat to the well-being of the Human race. Water is rapidly looming as a very limited resource, being over-used in a number of different ways and regions of the world. Damming of major rivers is destroying fisheries and reducing water availability down stream; underground water supplies running out; cities sinking because of underground water extraction; land being destroyed in the growing of cotton which requires vast amounts of irrigation.
I shall present a few case studies and positive developments then we can discuss the relative risks and what needs to and should be done about them.
