Left Bank Talks and Discussion Evenings – coming up

From Nat and Alan: Details of upcoming talks are below. Please, as ever, do pass on to individual friends and family, but please do not share this access information publicly on social media.

WEDNESDAY 6 JANUARY 2021 7.30pm – 9pm We all want to change the World… but HOW? With Richard Priestley

Assuming we all want to change the World in the same general direction, how do we do it? In this talk Richard Priestley will explore the complex relationship between political organising, non-violent activism, technical innovation, project development, lifestyle choices and the role of imagination (and any other method we can come up with!). The focus will be on the Climate & Ecological Emergency. What can we each as individuals, and collectively, do?

WEDNESDAY 6 January 2021 7pm HEREFORD HEALTHWATCH WEBINAR

(Its not ideal timing as it’s immediately before the discussion group above, but people can swap over at 7.30pm when the main points will have been made)

WEDNESDAY 13 JANUARY 2021 7:30pm – 9pm Q for the Bypass! With Perry Walker

Herefordshire does not divide into two blocs, one for the bypass, one against. The results of a ‘Q-methodology’ analysis carried out by Talk Shop seem to suggest there are three distinct views among those in favour, and four among those against. There is a lot of common ground between all these groups, including across that for/against divide. Could this common ground aid in developing policy for traffic and bypasses that is less contentious? Perry Walker from Talk Shop leads us in discussion.

WEDNESDAY 20 JANUARY 2021 7:30pm – 9pm Social Values – Bringing things together & making them Happen?

The exact focus of this discussion is still flexing somewhat. There are a number of areas to explore – the Council’s progress on their Procurement/Social Values changes; the progress of usage of the Maylord Orchard Centre to contain community hubs; the Stronger Hereford bid and possible outcomes, and others. We will be looking to get a rich and energetic discussion raised on these and related topics, with you all in the New Year. So, Watch This Space as it evolves.
