The High Street – Thinking Beyond Retail – Creating Health and Wellbeing Community Hubs Wednesday 28th October, 7.30pm – 9pm

In so many Towns and Cities around the UK, The High Street is in trouble. Boarded up shops, numerous charity shops and betting shops. Guest Speaker Dr Malcolm Rigler talks about the opportunity the council’s purchase of The Maylord Shopping Centre might present, offering Hereford the opportunity to explore new ways of working that involve the diversification of  The High Street Offer into “Health, Education and Community Development” . In developing such initiatives Hereford might well be able to take the lead in the Midlands Region for the much needed  creative change in the High Street Offer  that has long been called for by REVO (an organisation that supports retail) and many other agencies. Talk from guest speaker, Dr Malcolm Rigler, followed by discussion.

A Radical Proposal for Land Ownership  Wednesday 11th November, 7.30pm – 9pm

Should private ownership of land be replaced by collective public ownership and responsibility for managing the land with a Land Commission determining how land is used. Adam Forman believes this would address inequality at its core with the greatest source of wealth being land, rapidly increasing in value. Adam puts forward this radically redistributing proposal and invites your responses. Adam Forman has a lifelong commitment to reducing inequality and more recently in addressing the housing crisis in London – he lives in Hackney.
